Mulgrave Road Theatre takes SPIN - a play that deals with VLTs and problem gambling - through Nova Scotia

Mulgrave Road Theatre’s production of SPIN had a successful opening Friday, April 29th in Guysborough. At the conclusion of the performance, playwright Emmy Alcorn received much praise and congratulations from those in attendance. Under the direction of Joanne Miller, SPIN has been described as a powerful, thought-provoking and modern drama that encourages the audience to question the many faces of gambling.

Following the production, audience members were invited to a reception at the theatre building. Those in attendance included everyone from teenagers to parents to seniors, and they took the opportunity to discuss SPIN and the transforming impact it had on them. The response to this play has been overwhelming, a must see for all Nova Scotians.

The production boasts an outstanding cast, which includes the exceptional talents of Deborah Allen, Mauralea Austin, Réjean J. Cournoyer, Hugo Dann and Krista Laveck. Technicians include stage manager Susanna Haley along with technical director and lighting designer Donna MacMillan. Set, costume, projection and graphic designer Denyse Karn and sound designer Brian Buckle complete the technical team.

SPIN will tour to Antigonish on May 4; New Glasgow on May 5; Windsor on May 6; Wolfville on May 7; Digby on May 8; Liverpool on May 10; Chester on May 11 and Halifax, May 12 until May 14.
